Innovative Fitness awarded the 5th Annual Chris Conti Memorial Grant to Northeast High School, located in Macon, Georgia. Northeast High School is a part of the Bibb County School district and serves approximately 830 students from 9th grade through 12th grade.
With 100% of students receiving free or reduced lunch, Northeast High School serves predominately economically disadvantaged students. William Gordon, Northeast High School’s Assistant Athletic Director, is hoping the CCMG will help implement and create new programs to improve student’s overall wellbeing, both physically and mentally. The equipment from the CCMG will be used to help students who are unable to participate in extracurricular sports learn about their physical health as well as healthy coping skills. Gordon plans to focus on female students between the ages of 13 and 18 who may have little to no knowledge of physical education. The goal for the space is to be an area students go when they are feeling overwhelmed, using fitness as an outlet for emotional regulation or difficult situations.
Innovative Fitness established the CCMG in 2020 to honor the memory of co-founder, Chris Conti, who passed away in March of 2019. The creation of the CCMG coincides with the company’s motto, “See a need, fill a need”, and carries on Chris’ notable generosity and service to his community.
