Regular exercise improves the immune response by increasing the production and circulation of white blood cells who destroy harmful viruses and bacteria. A 2019 scientific review found that moderate-intensity exercise is linked to lower rates of upper respiratory tract infections, which includes viruses like the flu and common cold. There is no hard and fast rule about how much exercise will directly impact your immune system, but the CDC recommends 150 minutes of moderate intensity exercise or 75 minutes of vigorous- intensity exercise weekly. Remember that more is not always better. It is always important to make sure you are not over doing it. Rest days are as vital as workout days, so do not forget to work some reco days into your schedule.
