Lofts at Riverwalk

Problem

Excess space without clear definition for different equipment areas.

The Lofts at Riverwalk fitness space is over 9,000 square feet and was falling apart. As an old cotton factory that employed 700 workers and consumed 20,000 cotton bales a year, the Anderson Mill was left in a poor condition.  Apartment fitness spaces are normally a few hundred square feet, so this project was the first of its kind that required a lot of demo, renovations, and innovative solutions. The main challenge was clearly defining spaces throughout the gym. A priority was making sure the extremely large space was designed intentionally to make it useful and attractive to residents.

Create a custom layout utilizing various flooring and equipment, making the very large space functional and attractive.

Solution

Our staff created a custom layout for the facility at The Lofts at Riverwalk. It was important to fill the space with a functional and attractive workout space. Each inch of the 9,000 square feet needed to be used intentionally instead of just filling the space with random equipment that did not go together. Different areas were created to allow for better flow of the room and ease of use for residents.

Results

A beautiful, unique, and expansive fitness space with defined areas for different types of workouts that allows residents to navigate the space in any way they prefer.

The Lofts at Riverwalk fitness space provides residents with a seamless workout experience. Each area allows residents to fully engage in their workout. The layout of the room is open and airy, which was achieved by using various flooring, colors, and design structures. The main focal point of the room is the custom free weight rig located in the center of the strength training area. The cardio equipment which is located on a raised platform overlooks the strength equipment. The functional fitness area includes turf flooring and a custom storage rig that holds medicine balls, kettle balls, and other accessories while providing anchor points for suspension training.
